Okay, here we are with another one. I elected to go old timey with this one, I don't know why. It's not completely finished, I'm still trying to decide to make it all sepia-toned or more colorful. Anyways, as always, click for the full-sized version.

Oh. Hello there! No, I didn't forget about this place (surprising, no?) but I have been out of town for the past two weeks.
However, in my absence, I have had some time to work on some things, and I shall be posting them within the next couple of days.

Of course, this also leads up to the fact that I am planning to take an indefinite hiatus from here. What with school starting up soon, I doubt I'll be able to keep updating here with any sort of regularity. So, I shall update this blog for the rest of the week, and that will be it. But anyways. On to the artwork!

If you recall, I said that my last piece would have a part 2. Here is how the whole thing looks together, sorta. I realise due to scrolling and everything, you'll have to view it from the top down, but it's meant to be viewed from the bottom up.

I actually do not have an update for you* today, as I have been working on something big (literal bigness here), so instead I will give you a look at this other thing I've been doing. It's not finished, so far I haven't even covered half of the piece of paper I'm working on, and it's not yet colored, but here it is.

Note that the panel layout is a bit unorthodox. Expect to see the finished version sometime tomorrow.

Huh. I think the scan actually looks better than the actual painting, this time (Perspective's a bit wonky, though).
Anyways, it says 'long*' on the scroll, repeated, and that's supposed to be shide** around the dragon I think.




*Dragon***, not length.
**Don't ask me why I've got a mishmash of Chinese and Japanese elements going on.
***Or it's an approximation of the character, at any rate. I know absolutely nothing about calligraphy.

Daytime Minutes - Forensics

Okay this one turned out kind of terrible.

First Post?

Okay, so the actual title of this blog is: During the Course of the Summer, I Will Listen to Music and Then Paint Pictures, and Then Post the Results in This Blog (There Will Usually Also Be Accompanying Words)

With that out of the way, welcome! Here the deal is.

I have decided that, to prepare myself for AP Art next school year, I am going to need a lot of practice. To this end I will try to come up with a new piece of artwork (mostly) daily. To make things interesting (and keep myself from just drawing a ton of robots and explosions), I have come up with a few ground rules.

For each piece, I am going to (A) Listen to a song, selected randomly through iTunes and (B) paint something using the song as inspiration. There is no need for the resulting piece to have any sort of correlation to the song, just whatever random images my subconscious responds with.

Everyone clear? Good. Let's see what we have for today (Thursday).

I think I may actually add more to this later, but for now it is good. So! This time I managed not to drink any paint-water, however I did end up knocking over my ink well and spilling a good deal of it. Luckily it was on a tile floor! I managed to get most of it back, and put the remaining ink on the floor to use as well. So! Bonus time - you actually get two pieces of art today! Okay so actually it is a piece of crap.
